"I remember when it was just two black families living in this circle!!!"
That's my Granny bemoaning about What Used To Be down in the culdesac
Before all the Niggas Moved
Every summer she has a prolonged scroll of dissatisfactions
I mean the longest of long lists of complaints
Not that winter is any better because if it's not "These Hoodlum Kids"
Then it's the drug dealer being constantly watched by the police
And he never being arrested
My Granny reminisces about
When her neighbors were real neighbors
And all the kids would be around her stomping grounds
Now these kids just be outside her house
Using profanity and making suggestive jestures
Letting foul and abhorrent conversation pour from their mouths
Ever since the Niggas Moved
I remember when I was just a little kid
And the white people on the block
They all knew me and their kids were my friends
It was the south side then, too
But not full of gangsters or hood rats
Just friendly folk who used to come, drink, smoke, and joke
Bodies of all kind, singers, dancers, all in their minds
All into buffoonery and wisecracks
Alcohol and shooting craps
Now, though, the people across the street are always having parties
And My Granny's mail box is always getting ran down by the drunks and druggies
Beer bottles and trash all in the streets
Bummy black males walking in front of the yard, drink in one hand
His penis in the other, not even stopping as he pees
All because the Niggas Moved
It used to be all these johns and call girls were on the west side
I grew up on that side, too
They were accompanied by gangs and drugs
And the heads were met on the corners everday by Narcs
The south side was the place to be
While the west side was the ghetto, the projects, indubitably
Where the pimp cats didn't care how old you were
All they knew were you were a fine little dime piece that they wanted to holla at
And then the Niggas Moved
And when they moved
The Pearly Whites moved too
They flocked to the west, north, and east
Except for a few known hoods around town on all sides
Making it that much more impossible for Us to move in
They move so they don't have to continue to feel unsafe
They move so they will never have to look at a ghetto niggerish face
And never have to take the chance in them adopting the nigga way
But Niggas...
Oh they want to be where the white people are
They have to look like they have money because "We live in a white neighborhood!"
"And the cops patrol everyday..."
"It doesn't have to be something going on for them to come out this way!"
Just have to rub elbows with the white folk
Which would be just fine if they knew how to take care of things
Can't be like decent black folk
Always have to be some Nigga that mess everything up
That's why Ebony Blacks never want to live around Niggas
Rather be the only black family on the block
Because the more there are, the more niggerish things get
And that brings down the property value
But no matter where we Jets move once the White Lillies pick up and go
We are always followed by some Niggas that turns the neighborhood upside down
And inside out...trying to floss like they're better than what they are
Still doing the same things that Niggas do
Not understanding that they are the reason why everyone continues to move
Now some may be offended because I wrote this the way I did
But "Nigga" to me is not limited to black
However is limited to all who fall under the category of ignorant
I just write this way to prove a point
See My Granny is not racist
She being she from St Louis, Missouri is one of the blackest I know
Coming only second to my huge oily black Grandpo
Things just used to be better in this Neighbor now The Hood
And what was once all owned is turned rental properties
The decent peoples are gone, sold their house then moved on
And My Granny stayed hoping things would continue to be the same
I remember when the whites dissipated
And My Granny had been overjoyed to see a few of her black folks make it
Things were still fine, then up went the rate of crime
Then came out kids who were bullies
And bullies who couldn't stay in school
The dealer down the street just shot this dude
For not giving him all his money
Junkie was trying to play him for a fool
Police don't come through just to check up on things anymore
They come out because they know they can get a bust
Plus My Granny can't seem to with them stay off the phone
Just always seems like these things be going on
All things illegal
My Granny once stayed in a nice neighborhood
It wasn't always so bad and she didn't always have criticism
Full of reproach now though
In her words, "See this is what happens when Niggas Move!!!"
